Health and Physical Education Department wins 2012 Golden Apple Award!The Fairfax County Public Schools Wellness Task Force is pleased to announce that Longfellow Middle School has been awarded the Golden Apple Wellness Award for the 2011-2012 school year. The Gold Apple Wellness Award is the first tier in the G.O.L.D.E.N. Wellness Series (Giving Others Lifelong Desire for Exercise and Nutrition).

The Symphonic Band was awarded the Sudler Silver Cup in 1999 in recognition of seven years of outstanding achievement.

Each year since 1989, the Symphonic Band has received Superior Ratings at District Assessments.

Each year since 1988 the Symphonic Band has won its class in competition at Music in the Parks or Fiesta-Val Competition at Hershey Park, King’s Dominion Amusement Park or Busch Garden’s Amusement Park.

The Symphonic Band has placed more students in the District XII All-District Band than any other school since 1994.

The Symphonic Band has been invited to perform at the Virginia Music Educators Association In-Service Conference in November, 2011.
