  • Kelly Crider and Teresa Hackett have been named to the 1st Team All Liberty District Field Hockey team.
  • Kelly Crider has been named to the 1st Team All Region Honors Field Hockey team.
  • Nicole Cressman, Jenna Foster, Emily Hemmingson, Grace Hemmingson, Alison Lenert, Daniel Nguyen, and Peter Ngyuen have been accepted into the District Honors Chorus.
  • Christine Nguyen, Hannah Perlman, Camille Lorenzana, JP Perlman, and Sam Kwong auditioned for and were accepted into the District 12 Honors Orchestra.
  • The Marching Band received multiple first- and second-place finishes at the competition at Mills Godwin HS in Richmond Nov 7.
  • Class of 2009 alumnus Lucas Rooney became the first freshman ever invited to join BASIS -- a group of Virginia Tech students who run a $4 million+ fixed-income securities fund on behalf of the Virginia Tech Foundation
  • Delanyo Kpo, one of 21 students nominated by FCPS for the College of William and Mary Leadership Award, recognizing students who demonstrate leadership both in the classroom and in their communities.
  • The It's Academic team won their match! Watch for it to air Oct. 24 at 11:00 on NBC4.
  • Isabelle Lindberg, who placed 3rd in the region in golf and will compete in the state tournament
  • National Merit Scholarship Semifinalists Conor Dinan, Jonathan Giles, Rebecca Groisser, Kelsey Kolb, and Ann O'Brien
  • National Merit Commended Students Christopher Bowie, Ellen Chapin, Hannah Cooper-Hamlet, Robin Crigler, Denise Funsten, Dana Hayes, Arian Khorshid, Rijul Mandlekar, Meara O'Malley, Jennifer O'Neil, Thomas Pennington, Brigitte Tondreau, and Alyssa Tsantes
  • The Marching Statesmen placed first in the USSBA Northern VA Regional competition (Division 2a)
  • Devon Maloney has been selected to serve on the Newseum's Student Advisory Team
  • Michael Martin received the Virginia Technology Education Association Chester Lane High School Teacher of the Year award for 2009.
  • Joe Swarm named Director of Student Activities
  • Best Buddies is a first runner-up as the top Best Buddies chapter in the world
  • John Reynolds was appointed as the District 3 representative to the National Athletic Trainers' Association's Secondary School Committee. NATA District 3 includes SC, NC, VA, WVA, MD and DC.
  • Melissa Goitia and Michael Steiner have been selected as Fall 2009 Congressional pages
