Have you Renewed Your Safeway Card this year?
Help our PTA Receive Money From Safeway to fund Our Projects. Three percent of your total purchases at Safeway are donated to our School. It really adds up. Please encourage your friends and relatives who live near a Safeway to register their cards for Waynewood. You must renew your account every year. Select the Safeway Card and you will need to type in your Safeway card number. Our group number is 6584153.
Earning money for Waynewood with box tops is easy to do:
1. Buy participating items that display a box top certificate 2. Clip the certificate 3. Send it to school or drop it in the basket in the Waynewood office.
Don't hold on to your box tops - they do expire. We count and submit the box tops as they come in, so no need to hold on to them.
Current box top participants include: Pillsbury products, Cheerios, Fruit Roll-Ups, Ziploc products, Huggies, Betty Crocker products, Kleenex, Hefty, and Cottonelle. For a complete list, visit http://www.boxtops4education.com/Image.aspx?id=2164.

Waynewood is a participant in the e-scrip program, which is a fundraiser program that pays our school cash when registered families shop at e-scrip merchants. The easy part is that there are so many merchants that participate and you are probably shopping at many of them already.
In fact, Safeway is one of the e-scrip merchants and Waynewood receives up to 3% of what you spend there. All you have to do is register your Safeway card with the e-scrip to begin earning money for Waynewood. We currently have over 350 registered families earning money for Waynewood, which is about 60% of our student families. Think how much more we can earn if every family registers! Further, the program isn't limited to our student families - anyone can sign up and designate Waynewood as the beneficiary. So encourage family members to help our school, too!
There are two easy ways to register:
On-line:
a) Go to www.escrip.com
b) Go to right side, click on "Sign Up, Its Free"
c) Select "Group ID" and enter "Waynewood" and click search
d) Select Waynewood Elementary" (Group number 6584153)
e) Provide the required contact information;
f) Register your Safeway card by selecting "Safeway" from the left
drop down menu, and entering your 11-digit Safeway card number. If you don't have your Safeway card number, please call 1-877-SAFEWAY to get it.
g) You can also register your credit cards so that when you use one
of those cards at a participating e-scrip merchant, you can earn additional money for Waynewood.
Paper Submission:
a) Complete the paper registration
form and return it to the PTA box in the Waynewood office. If you don't have your Safeway card number, please call 1-877-SAFEWAY to get it.
If you need additional information, please contact Krista Helvey, the Waynewood PTA E-Scrip Coordinator at krista@alliances.org or 703 619 0495.
If you shop at Giant be sure to designate your card there as well. There are sign ups at most Giants.
The SCA Community Service Committee is holding a new hat and mitten drive in conjunction with the Homeless Walk. Any warm outerwear donated will go to UCM to help local families this winter. There is a box in the lobby at Waynewood and donations will be accepted until Wednesday, Oct. 28th.
Please keep in mind there are more than 1000 homeless families with almost 700 homeless children in Fairfax County. Any support that you can provide will go a long way towards helping these children and families this winter season. Thank you for your generosity!
