Capsule: Chapter 1 - History
Chapter 1 Chapter 2 Chapter 3 Chapter 4 Chapter 5 Chapter 6 Chapter 7 Chapter 8

This was the message to the community and the students in May of 2001.

In 1976, the students at Wolftrap Elementary buried a time capsule in the courtyard in celebration of the bicentennial with the intent of opening it twenty-five years later. Each grade level placed something in the time capsule to represent that time period. We will have a reception for alumni and current students on May 17, 2001 at Wolftrap Elementary. The time is still to be determined. The time capsule was unearthed today, March 14, 2001 thanks to one of our current parents, Mr. Sekas. The metal time capsule is currently being displayed in the office, yet it is still sealed. Its contents will be displayed later this spring, in time for the reception. Please continue to check this web site for updated information.

Here is a picture a of second grade class in the school year 1973-1974. Mrs. Carroll was the principal. This is two years before the capsule was buried and these children would have moved to fourth grade when the capsule was buried. Do you know what the mural on the wall is depicting?

The time capsule was buried in a sealed cement box in order to protect it from the elements. Here are two views of the capsule before it was sealed closed in 1976.

The principal at the time the capsule was buried was Dr. Dick Levine. The students dressed up a British soldiers and it appears that Dr. Levine was dressed up as a militiaman.
