Mentor and Mentee meeting together

Partner, Mentor, Volunteer - Get Involved

There are many different ways to get involved with FCPS

Are you looking for a way to contribute to the community? Consider mentoring a student, volunteering your time at a local school, connecting your business or community group with one of the 197 schools in FCPS, or donating to the school division.

FCPS welcomes individuals looking to make a positive contribution in the life of a child by serving as a mentor. Mentors agree to a 30 minute per week commitment during the school year that takes place at the student's school. Individuals and businesses can volunteer to mentor students, and many mentors provide academic support and tutoring to their mentees.

Volunteers help in the classroom, library, with special events, and anywhere they are needed at all Fairfax County schools. To get started, contact the school nearest you and offer your services. All volunteers must pass a background check.

Is your business or community group interested in partnering with Fairfax County Public Schools? Many opportunities exist for partnerships. Start by reviewing our Ignite Partnerships plan.

FCPS accepts donations from the community, from musical instruments to school supplies to monetary donations. Visit the Donate to FCPS page for specifications and details.

School Board

School Board Committees

Joining a local school board committee is a meaningful way to impact your community and support public education. It provides a platform to influence policies, budget decisions, and programs that shape students' learning experiences. As a committee member, you’ll collaborate with educators, parents, and administrators to address school needs and foster positive change. This involvement enhances transparency and accountability in education, allowing you to advocate for quality and equity while strengthening community ties.
