December 19, 2024 - School Board Regular Meeting Highlights

Fairfax County Public Schools students received eight awards in the National YoungArts Foundation Competition. These students are part of a group of more than 800 YoungArts award winners that were selected through a highly competitive application.

The Robinson Secondary School Symphonic Band has been invited to perform at The Midwest Clinic International Band and Orchestra Conference in Chicago, December 18-21.

Congratulations to all the FCPS student-athletes who participated in the 2024 fall sports season. This year, four teams and two individuals won the Virginia High School League (VHSL) Class 6 championship in their respective sports, and six teams and two individuals were the state runners-up.

Every Wednesday after school, a special class takes place at Fairfax High School. But this isn’t your typical classroom filled with teenagers. Here, the students are parents who are eager to learn a new language and skills to better support their children’s education.

November 14, 2024 - School Board Regular Meeting Highlights

November is Native American Heritage Month. A Wakefield Forest Elementary teacher is sharing his cultural upbringing as a member of the Haudenosaunee’s Bear Clan with students through lessons on drums, dreamcatchers and the role of Native Americans in rocket science.

Girls who have been on the mat say, don't let the boys scare you — wrestling teaches everyone important life lessons.

For many families who move to Fairfax County from other countries, the Dunn Loring Welcome Center is a safe haven. There, they find staff like Community Liaison Beatriz Bucarey ready to help them learn everything from how to set up email to what forms are needed for school registration.

FCPS CARES submissions for the month of November 2024.

Fairfax County Public Schools has been awarded a $1.5 million grant from the Department of Defense Education Activity through the Military-Connected Local Educational Agencies for Academic and Support Programs.

As we approach Veterans Day on Monday, November 11, we would like to say a heartfelt “Thank you” to the many FCPS employees who are also military veterans.

Twenty-two schools across Fairfax County Public Schools are celebrating being honored with a Green Flag award from the National Wildlife Federation (NWF) through the EcoSchools U.S. program. Only 56 Green Flags were awarded nationwide.

The first set of Boundary Review Community Meetings are scheduled. Families, staff, and community members will be able to share their thoughts, ask questions, and learn more about the boundary review process.

Forty-eight students representing 17 Fairfax County high schools and one elementary school have been selected for the 2024 All-Virginia Orff Ensemble, the 2024 All-Virginia Jazz Band and Jazz Ensemble, and the 2024 Virginia Music Educators Association Senior Honors Choir.
