iReady Notification of Math Error and Retest

Understand the iReady math retest for your child

The following provides content from the division iReady error and retest notification letter.

Dear Parent/Guardian,

Your child completed a grade 3-6 iReady Mathematics test on September 8-10. This letter is to inform you that the Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS) Office of Assessment and Reporting found a technical error with all iReady Mathematics tests delivered on those dates. The testing vendor accidentally set up the test for the wrong grade level. This created an artificial cap on student performance and produced an invalid math score for students who tested on those days.

The iReady assessment gives teachers information about strengths and needs in mathematics. To ensure your child’s teacher has this important information to support mathematics learning, your child will need to retake the iReady math test at some point by Friday, November 12. If you do not wish for your child to retake the iReady Mathematics assessment, please contact your child’s teacher or the school test coordinator.

I want to assure you that the error was no fault of your child’s school and offer my apology for the inconvenience it has caused for you and your child. If you have questions about the test error, please contact [email protected].

Sincerely,

Bettrys Huffman

Director, Assessment and Reporting
