Public Health Nurse Shahenil Grealish has always loved working with and caring for people. She became a nurse nearly 25 years ago, in 1990, because she felt that she could both “help people and make a positive impact on their lives.”

27 FCPS Students Named National Merit Scholarship Winners

FCPS Staff Celebrate Innovation at Artificial Intelligence Share Fair

May 07, 2024On Friday, May 3, FCPS facilitated a Share Fair to celebrate the learning and innovations of this year’s Artificial Intelligence (AI) Innovator Cohort. The cohort included approximately 200 FCPS staff representing 95 schools and the central office. Their focus was to learn about AI, reflect on its application in our work, and discover how to teach students to use it effectively and ethically as we inspire them to imagine careers of tomorrow.

School Board Seeking Applicants for Facilities Planning Advisory Council (May 2024)

May 06, 2024The Fairfax County School Board invites applications from community members interested in serving on the Facilities Planning Advisory Council (FPAC) for a Providence District member, Springfield District member, Sully District member, and At-Large member (McElveen). FPAC advises and informs FCPS staff and the School Board in the development of comprehensive, long-term plans for facilities. Applications submitted in the previous application windows in Fall 2023 and Winter 2024 will be considered. Those applicants do not need to re-apply unless they would like to apply for a different district seat on FPAC.

FCPS Students Receive 2024 Regional Scholastic Writing Awards

May 06, 2024Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS) student writers won 31 Gold Key awards in the 2024 Regional Scholastic Writing Awards competition. In all, 259 Gold Key, Silver Key, and Honorable Mentions were earned by FCPS students.

Megan Sawant to Serve as 2024-25 Student School Board Representative

May 02, 2024Megan Sawant, a junior at Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology, has been elected by the countywide Student Advisory Council to serve a one-year term as student representative to the Fairfax County School Board, beginning July 1.
