In-person Attendance at Athletic Events

Due to the continued high rate of COVID-19 transmission, we will continue to limit in-person attendance at athletic events to coaches, athletes, and the parents of both the home and visiting teams through Friday, January 28. All FCPS high school sporting events are available online on the NFHS Network where you can create an account and subscribe and follow to begin watching.

Juniors and Seniors: Do You Want to Become a Teacher?

FCPS will host the Fourth Annual Back2Fairfax Teacher Seminar virtual event on Tuesday, December 14, 2021, from 5-8 p.m. This event will give FCPS high school juniors, seniors, graduates, and former Teachers for Tomorrow or Early Childhood Careers students an opportunity to network with teachers, administrators, and professional groups in Fairfax County Public Schools.

FCPS to Require Proof of COVID-19 Vaccination for Athletic Participation

Beginning November 8, FCPS will require proof of full COVID-19 vaccination for any student participating in Virginia High School League (VHSL) winter and spring sports for the remainder of the 2021-22 school year.  Proof of full COVID-19 vaccination will also be required for participation in any other activity that requires a physical. This includes dance team and step team, as well as out-of-season practices and workouts.

Winter Sports

Based on the data and experiences with student athletes who have been conditioning successfully since summer, FCPS is progressing with the return of participation in the Virginia High School League (VHSL) athletic season in December.

Virtual College Week

This year, FCPS will host a Virtual College Week from Monday, October 19 to Friday, October 23, 2020.  This event will feature two live virtual sessions each evening starting at 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. During these sessions, FCPS students and families will be provided an opportunity to meet virtually with subject-matter experts and ask questions about college admissions, standardized testing, financial aid, and postsecondary planning.  Students and their families must register to attend any of the sessions.  Complete information is available.
