Eight FCPS Students Recognized in National YoungArts Award Competition
Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS) students received eight awards in the National YoungArts Foundation Competition. These students are part of a group of more than 800 YoungArts award winners that were selected through a highly competitive application, which is reviewed by panels of esteemed, discipline-specific artists in a rigorous adjudication process.
All YoungArts award winners have demonstrated exceptional technique, a strong sense of artistry, and an extraordinary commitment to developing their crafts. This year, winners were selected from more than 9,000 applications across 10 artistic disciplines – classical music, dance, design, film, jazz, photography, theater, visual arts, voice, and writing.
The winners from FCPS are:
- Saniya Desai, Theater/Musical, Marshall High School.
- Sophia Lin, Classical Music/Piano, Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology.
- Kian Linam, Jazz/Piano, South Lakes High School.
- Mia Mortman, Voice/Classical, McLean High School.
- Renee Shi, Film, Langley High School.
- Joshua Thrush, Classical Music/Double Bass, Madison High School.
- Sammi Wallace*, Voice/Singer-Songwriter, Madison HIgh School.
- Yeo Yeum, Classical Music/Oboe, Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology.
