Employees Share Graduation Memories
Jewad Abdulhadi (above), office assistant and coach at Annandale High School, serves as keynote speaker at graduation. An Ethiopian immigrant who moved to the United States as a middle schooler, Jewad faced numerous challenges but found a sense of belonging and support as a student in the Atom Nation community.
FCPS employees share highlights from their high school graduations.
Glen Jolly, substitute teacher, fondly remembers his graduation held at Wolf Trap Farm Park. He graduated in the 1970s from James Madison High School.
Susan Stager (at right), retirement counselor, ERFC, graduated in the 1970s from Munich American High School in Munich, Germany.
"The choir sang 'Get Together' from the Youngbloods, still a good grad song!" she says. "Our tassels were red, white and blue for the bicentennial. We still get together for reunions in the U.S."
For Chelsea Mason (left), administrative assistant, Dranesville Elementary School, the lasting highlights of her graduation day were "singing in the choir one last time and being with my best friends throughout the day sharing these amazing moments together." She graduated from Centreville High School in 2007.
Phoebe Dillard (below), theater director, Whitman Middle School, graduated from Westfield High School in 2010 and was nominated to be the class speaker.
