FCPS Named ENERGY STAR® Partner of the Year
Fairfax County Public Schools has been selected as a 2023 ENERGY STAR® Partner of the Year winner for Sustained Excellence. This award is reserved for ENERGY STAR® partners demonstrating outstanding leadership, year over year.
FCPS uses ENERGY STAR® to engage students, conserve energy, and protect the environment, and as a catalyst for stewardship throughout FCPS schools and the community. Recent accomplishments include:
- Receiving recognition as an ENERGY STAR Certification Nation Executive Member by earning the ENERGY STAR for 61 schools in 2022.
- Achieving energy savings greater than 21% and $65 million since 2014 and more than $10 million in annual energy costs.
- Winning the “Best Project in the Major Renovation” category of the ENERGY STAR Decarbonize Your Design Challenge for the renovation of Crossfield Elementary School.
- Improving both indoor air quality and energy efficiency through heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) projects.
FCPS has been an ENERGY STAR® partner since 1998. This commitment has been a foundation for our energy management program, and guided FCPS’ focus on efficient energy consumption, reducing harmful air pollutants generated by greenhouse gas emissions, and saving millions of dollars.
