Dear Families,

It is with deep concern that I am writing today to share that Fairfax County police have just announced charges of unlawful filming against a person who worked for after school sports programs in several FCPS elementary schools. Police have already spoken with the victims’ families and continue to provide them support.

Today, police have charged Arturo Elmore-Adon who worked for Overtime Athletics, a vendor of Baroody Camps, in FCPS schools from September 2022-May 2023. The unlawful filming occurred at Churchill Road and Fox Mill elementary schools. This individual was connected to six additional schools including:

  • Aldrin ES
  • Colvin Run ES
  • Great Falls ES
  • Forestville ES
  • Haycock ES
  • Stenwood ES

I want to assure you that we require all hourly employees, including contractors who work for outside programs, to undergo the same background checks as our full time staff. This background check was conducted in 2022, and he was reviewed and cleared by FCPS Human Resources.

If you or your child have any concerns or information that you would like to share, you are encouraged to use the FCPS anonymous “Tipline”, or call the FCPD’s Major Crimes Bureau at 703-246-7800, option 3. Tips can also be submitted anonymously through Crime Solvers by phone – 1-866-411-TIPS(866-411-8477), and by web. Please leave contact information if you wish for a detective to follow up with you.

We expect that anyone who works with children is focused on their safety and wellbeing. When that trust is broken, it deeply affects us all. We commit to keeping you informed as we learn more, to be here to answer your questions or concerns, and to support your child and family in any way that you need.

Sincerely,

Dr. Michelle C. Reid
