Resources for students and families are available while schools are closed for winter break
FCPS will be closed for winter break from December 18, 2023 to January 1, 2024. The following resources for students and families are available while schools are closed.
Academic Support
- FCPS students have unlimited access, 24 hours a day/7 days a week, to online tutoring support services through Varsity Tutors at no cost to families. Students can connect online any time, any place, and in most K-12 subjects for however long they need.
- The following educational programming is available virtually and on public access television channels:
- Elementary school instruction: Red Apple 21.
- Middle school instruction: Channel 25.
- High school instruction: Channel 99.
Mental Health Support

- Promoting Mental Wellness Over Winter Break
- Students or families experiencing emotional distress or crisis can text 988 or call the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline for free and confidential emotional support. It’s available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

- Hypothermia Prevention Program
The 2023-24 Hypothermia Prevention Program will run through March 31, 2024. The program ensures no one sleeps outside during winter. Available support includes warm shelter, meals, and vital services; and connecting guests to clothing, employment, and housing. - Shelters
