Community Review of Mathematics Basal Resources

Learn more about the Math Basal Resources being reviewed for adoption for the 2025-26 and 2026–27 school years.

Fairfax County Public Schools is adopting Math Basal Resources for the 2025-26 and 2026–27 school year. Basal resources are the primary resources used to support instruction in a given subject.

Public review of the instructional materials under consideration is part of the process for selecting new resources.

All community feedback will be shared with School Board members before a vote at the School Board’s regular meeting in Spring 2025.

Note: Only comments regarding the evaluation of the instructional materials (not any additional resources or materials) will be considered from the survey and comment sheet.

FCPS adopts basal resources in accordance with the process outlined in Regulation 3004

Timeline

  • October 2024: A request for proposals (PDF) is issued for K-12 math instructional materials.
    • November 15, 2024, at 1 p.m.: Responses to Security and Accessibility Questionnaires are due.
    • December 13, 2024 at 1 p.m.: Proposals are due.
  • January 2025: Internal review of RFP responses by a Selection Advisory Committee comprised of FCPS staff.
  • February – March 2025: Materials under consideration will be available for public review and comment on this page and at an in-person location.
  • March 2025: Members of the public and FCPS staff will meet to review and consider public comments and materials.
  • Spring 2025: Staff will make a recommendation to FCPS leadership and the School Board.
  • Fall 2025: Implement new math materials with FCPS grades 7 – 12.
  • Fall 2026: Implement new math materials with FCPS grades K – 6.
