Fairfax County Public Schools provides news and educational programming on three public channels, mainly through the financial support of Cox Communications, as well as additional funds provided by Comcast and Verizon. The flagship channel of FCPS is Red Apple 21 (check your local listing).
School Board meetings are shown live on Red Apple 21 and other programs include @fcpsnews, a recap of school system events and important information for families, students and the community; and In Other Words, a program for residents of Fairfax County who want to know more about schools but have limited English skills. The show is available in Arabic, Korean, Spanish, and Vietnamese and all programs are also available on the FCPS YouTube page.
Many of the other original programs featured on Red Apple 21 are produced by the Fairfax Network in partnership with organizations such as Mount Vernon, the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum, as well as Colonial Williamsburg.
