Meeting Opening

At 7:15 p.m., the National Anthem was performed by the Chantilly High School Chamber Chorale under the direction of Evan Ayars.

The School Board approved a proclamation honoring Hispanic Heritage Month.

Community Participation

The School Board heard from 4 members of the public during Community Participation.

Student Representative Matters

Student Representative Megan Sawant presented Student Representative Matters to the School Board.

Action Items

The School Board adopted the 2025 Fairfax County School Board State and Federal Legislative Program.

The School Board adopted a special rule of order regarding language for non-agendized motions.

Executive Limitation Performance and Policy Review

Superintendent Reid presented a monitoring report on Executive Limitation-9: Instructional Program. The School Board found the Superintendent in compliance with EL-9. In a related action, the School Board voted to maintain Executive Limitation 9: Instructional Program, as it is currently detailed in the Strategic Governance Manual.

Presentations to the School Board

Dr. Reid presented Academic Matters on an Elementary Literary Update.

Dr. Reid presented the SY 2024-25 Opening of Schools report.

Dr. Reid presented Superintendent Matters to the School Board.

Consent Agenda

The School Board also approved minutes of the July 18, 2024 meeting, additional Advisory Committee appointments, the creation of the School Board Administration Standing Committee, the Monthly Employee Separation Report, and several contracts.

Meeting Closing

Audit Committee Chair Mr. McElveen gave a Committee Report.
