“Our Heroes” is an on-going series of portraits of FCPS school-based and non-school-based staff told by colleagues, parents, students, and community members.

Today, we celebrate Jae Lee, a Multiple Disabilities Teacher and Cat B. Department Chair at Annandale High School. Known for his leadership and creating a caring culture, Mr. Lee (or Coach Lee) is a beloved member of the Atoms community. He was instrumental in creating the Special Olympics unified basketball team at Annandale, and recruited several student mentors to provide encouragement and assistance for the category B students.

"As an aspiring administrator, he supports the administrative team with his 'can do' attitude and ongoing professionalism," says Donna Higgins, assistant principal. "He is passionate about ensuring CAT B students are supported on a daily basis. He is a true HERO!"

Cadi Doyle holds her awardCadi Doyle (far right), Adapted Physical Education Itinerant at Waples Mill Elementary and Carson Middle School, was recently recognized as Virginia’s Adapted Physical Educator of the Year by the Virginia Association for Health, Physical Education, Recreation, and Dance. As a special education service documented on the individualized education program, Cadi ensures her students receive instruction aligned to grade level standards of learning with the necessary adaptations and accommodations. Students and their voices are always the center of her work to support their individual attributes which is accomplished through ongoing collaboration, reflection, and  professional growth.

Congratulations Cadi!
