Deirdre Lavery

Interim Senior Administrator, Nontraditional School Programs

Ms. Lavery is a graduate of Marymount University, where she earned her Bachelor of Arts in Special Education.  Her graduate studies in Educational Leadership were completed at George Mason University. Ms. Lavery is a forward-thinking administrator with over 30 successful years in Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS). She has previously served as an FCPS principal, cluster director, and interim executive principal.  Most recently, Ms. Lavery served as Interim Principal at Glasgow Middle School. 

She has proven the ability to analyze complex situations and construct manageable and achievable solutions.  Her strong organization and management skills and her deep commitment to fostering and developing administrative and teacher leaders is a valuable asset to Nontraditional School Programs.  She has demonstrated a belief that all students can learn and that the setting and modeling of high expectations is foundational to increasing student achievement. Ms. Lavery builds positive relationships and creates a culture of shared leadership and collective commitment in support of student learning.
