Kate Salerno
Kate Salerno is the senior administrator for Nontraditional School Programs. She joined the office in 2012, initially serving as coordinator.
From 2009 to 2012, Salerno was the administrator of Montrose Alternative Learning Center. The center promotes development of behavioral, academic, and social skills for students in grades 7-8. From 2007 to 2009, Salerno was the lead teacher for the Achievement, Integrity, and Maturity (AIM) program at the Bryant High School campus, a program for students who have been referred by the Division Superintendent due to serious violations of the code of conduct outlined in the Student Rights and Responsibilities (SR&R) document.
Salerno began her career in education as a social studies teacher in East Lyme, Connecticut. She joined Fairfax County Public Schools in 2001 as a social studies and ESOL teacher at Oakton High School while concurrently serving as a coordinator for the Summit Alternative Program before becoming an assessment coach at Falls Church High School.
Salerno has a bachelor's degree from Marymount University, a master's in education degree from George Mason University, and a post-master's certificate in educational administration from the George Washington University.
