Student working at home desk

Temporary Academic Support

Temporary academic support is available for students who are unable to attend school due to a principal’s out-of-school suspension for ten or more school days with a referral to the Division Superintendent.

Out-of-School Support

In addition to temporary academic support, Out-of-School Support also consists of homebound and home-based instruction.

Temporary academic support is provided by Systems of Support Advisors (SOSAs) and Out-of-School Support (OSS) case managers who make regular contact with the school and the parent and/or guardian to ensure that the student receives classwork during the out-of-school suspension period and to encourage the student to submit completed classwork.  The goal of temporary academic support is to keep the student as engaged as possible with classroom instruction in order to minimize academic loss.
