Equitable Access to Literacy is FCPS' PreK-12 literacy program. It uses proven methods based on scientific reading research. Its goal is to expand learning opportunities to meet the needs of all students.
FCPS values each individual student and recognizes that students have different strengths and needs. ESOL programs support more than 36,000 FCPS students in their work towards English proficiency.

The Dr. Lawrence Bussey Memorial Equity award has been established to recognize advocacy on behalf of students who are marginalized or underserved. This award honors the legacy of Dr. Bussey by celebrating the efforts and impact of those who work to redress inequitable systems and practices in Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS). Nominations are made in May-June each year and the award is presented at the annual summer Equity Symposium.
