Michael Hairston
Michael Hairston was re-elected to serve as chairperson for the ERFC Board for FY 2016. Hairston has served on the ERFC Board of Trustees since July 2004, and was re-elected to a fourth three-year term by the membership in spring 2013.
Hairston is currently band director at Luther Jackson Middle School. He served as band director for Twain Middle School, where he chaired the Music Department for 17 years. In 2002, he was honored with a nomination as Fairfax County Public Schools’ (FCPS) Teacher of the Year. Hairston is also a past president of the Fairfax Education Association.
Prior to teaching with FCPS, Michael Hairston was director of bands at Shaw Junior High School in Washington D.C., and at Martinsville Junior High School in Martinsville, Virginia.
Hairston earned his undergraduate degree in Music Education from North Carolina A&T State University, and his master's degree from the Ohio State University.
