About Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology

TJHSST is a Governor’s School. Students are selected through a competitive admissions process.  The majority of students enter TJHSST in their ninth grade year after participating in the Freshman Application Process, which historically begins in late September of a student’s eighth grade year.

A limited number of students are admitted to the sophomore (10th grade) and junior (11th grade) classes each year.  TJHSST does not admit students to its senior class.

In addition to Fairfax County (including the City of Fairfax), participating school divisions are Arlington County, Falls Church City, Loudoun County, and Prince William County.
