March 26, 2025 - Superintendent's Boundary Review Advisory Committee Meeting

Learn about the committee's work

Key Takeaways

  • Welcome
Janice Szymanski, chief of Facilities Services and Capital Programs, welcomed the group and reviewed the norm form results from the previous meeting.
  • Demonstration of Location Analytics
The committee received a demonstration of the Frontline Location Analytics platform and used the following two examples to visualize elements of the data. These are not actual scenarios for current consideration, rather they were used as illustrations to better understand the Frontline Location Analytics platform:
    • What it would look like if we moved 6th grade students to their middle school without adjusting boundaries.
    • What it would look like if all high school students attended their home (base) school without adjusting boundaries.
  • Review and Discussion of Baseline Data
The committee received a presentation from Thru Consulting on baseline data for split feeders, attendance islands, and school capacity. The committee provided feedback. The committee was encouraged to discuss with community members and bring feedback back to the group.
  • Closing

II. Review and Discussion of Baseline Data

Split Feeders and Attendance Islands

  • Discussion: Assess how capacity imbalances affect our schools. Gather ideas on priorities and possible adjustments.

II. Demonstration of Location Analytics

Platform Overview: Brief walkthrough of how the Frontline Location Analytics platform is being used to model and visualize data and potential boundary changes.

Map 1: Moving Sixth-Grade Students to Middle School

  • Demonstration of how sixth-grade populations are identified and “relocated” in the platform.
  • Before/After Data: Review resulting changes in school enrollments and capacity usage.

Map 2: Returning Transfer Students to Base Schools

  • Demonstration of how existing transfer students are identified and reassigned to their home schools.
  • Before/After Data: Analyze the impact on capacity and overall enrollment patterns.

IV. Closing

  • Committee members agree on a summary of decisions and confirmation of key takeaways/discussion points.
  • Members will also complete the norms evaluation.
