July 18, 2024 - School Board Regular Meeting Highlights

The School Board approved updates to the FCPS Boundary Policy (Policy 8130) at its July 18 regular meeting, completing a years-long comprehensive review of the policy for the first time in nearly four decades.

FCPS students compete in a variety of academic and activity-based competitions throughout the school year. This year, six teams and 11 individuals won the Virginia High School League (VHSL) academic championship and six teams and eight individuals were the state runners-up.

Congratulations to all the FCPS student athletes who participated in the 2024 spring sports season. This year, five teams and 17 individuals won the Virginia High School League (VHSL) Class 6 championship in their respective sports, and six teams and 18 individuals were the state runners up.

FCPS students received 30 national awards through the Scholastic Art and Writing Awards. FCPS students were recognized for original art and writing with one American Visions Medal, eight Gold Medals, 20 Silver Medals, and two portfolio Honorable Mentions.

Exceptional employees from across Fairfax County Public Schools were recognized at the FCPS Honors event held Wednesday, June 12. Sponsored by Educate Fairfax, the 2024 celebration was hosted at George Mason University’s Center for the Arts.
