Both the IB Diploma Program and the AP Program offer students the opportunity to take college-level courses in high school. FCPS has an open enrollment policy for both programs and all students are encouraged to take AP/IB courses in their area(s) of academic strength. Students and parents are encouraged to check the website of the high school that they will attend to determine program and course offerings at their individual school.
The elementary progress report uses a standards-based grading system. Resources are available for parents and guardians to help understand what standards-based grading is. Guidelines are incorporated for student achievement and effort marks.

Thomas Jefferson High School admission offers went to 550 students, who include students from each of the county’s middle schools, as well as Loudoun, Prince William, and Arlington counties, and the City of Falls Church. Those getting offers were chosen from 2,548 applications.
Region 2 serves the Falls Church, Justice, and McLean pyramids and is led by an assistant superintendent and executive principals. The region reports to the Chief of Schools.
