The Family Academy offers in-person and virtual classes, workshops, webinars, and programs for families. Listed below are numerous opportunities for families to register. Choose the opportunity and find information about dates, times, locations, and registration information.
Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) Family Trainings
All family members and caregivers are welcome to attend monthly, virtual ABA Family Training. On the date and time of the session, select "Join this Session" to attend.
If you need an interpreter for any of the trainings, please contact Liane Sprunk two weeks before the training at 571-423-4110 or [email protected].
Participants will learn how to identify the many parts of communication and how to teach their child.

Co-Parenting: Two Parents, Two Homes
This 4-hour class helps parents focus on the responsibilities of parenting from separate households while keeping children out of the middle as the parents negotiate custody, visitation, child support, or divorce. The cost is $40 per individual or $60 for couples attending the same session.

Join Dr. Jonathan Dalton, PhD, founder and director of the Center for Anxiety and Behavioral Change, as he reviews the important differences between healthy and unhealthy anxiety with a focus on the role of avoidance in creating and maintaining anxiety disorders. We will discuss specific parenting techniques and approaches that families can begin using immediately to help reduce their children's experience of anxiety.

This session will equip caregivers with the knowledge and skills to identify signs of suicidal ideation in their children and respond effectively to these crises. Caregivers will learn how to respond if they learn or observe that their child may be experiencing thoughts of suicide. This session will provide practical tools and strategies to help caregivers navigate these challenging situations with compassion and confidence.

This session will provide an overview of "The Pathway to Violence". Demystify the threat to others risk assessment process within the FCPS K-12 setting; and provide in-home strategies, school and community resources, and direction regarding keeping students safe when confronted with pervasive and/or significant concerning behaviors and explicit threats of violence.

Join Dr. Jonathan Dalton, PhD, founder and director of the Center for Anxiety and Behavioral Change as he presents on the critical differences in the treatment of anxiety in Neurotypical (allistic) and Autistic children. We will focus on the differences between fear and dread and why traditional anxiety treatment approaches are often insufficient when treating Autistic youth. We will build parenting skills that families can use to help relieve the anxious suffering of their Autistic children.
