Adult and Community Education (ACE) K12 Enrichment and Test Prep Classes
With an FCPS ACE Class, introduce your child to new skills, prepare them for an important test or explore a future career.
FCPS' Adult and Community Education (ACE) program offers a variety of enrichment and test preparation courses available to K-12 students throughout the region.
Frequently Asked Questions
Students taking classes through the Extended School Year (ESY) and FCPS Summer Learning programs will earn academic credits to help them toward graduation requirements. Examples of these classes are Credit Recovery, Institute for the Arts (IFTA) and Elementary IFTA (eIFTA), Online Campus, Tech Adventure and Career and Techincal Education (CTE) Academy. Students taking these classes must be an FCPS student. ACE assists these programs by providing registration services, but these programs are managed by FCPS departments other than ACE.
ACE classes are offered to FCPS and non-FCPS K-12 students alike. Our classes do not directly result in academic grades but can help students increase their confidence and knowledge. This in turn may help students get better grades. Parents enrolling their student in an ACE class will be required to complete an emergency contact form with ACE. Parents may also be required to complete additional forms depending on the nature of the class. For example, students will need to submit a form giving details about food allergies for a culinary class.
In April 2022, FCPS began to offer an online tutoring service to FCPS K-12 students.
ACE classes are offered to FCPS and non-FCPS students. Some of our classes are offered on-line, and some are offered in-person. Classes offered in-person are held at different FCPS locations including Pimmit Hills Center and the Plum Center. Parents enrolling their student in an in-person ACE class will be required to complete an emergency contact form with ACE.

Students must be signed-in and signed-out by a qualified adult for each scheduled session of the class.
Exception: If a student is at least 12 years old at the date of the class AND the parent or legal guardian has provided ACE written approval for the student to sign themselves in and out, then ACE will not require a qualified adult to sign them in or out.
If a student will miss, be late, or need to leave early from a scheduled in-person class, the parent or legal guardian will need to notify ACE of this in writing.
ACE processes registrations for these programs but do not run these programs. These programs are coordinated by different departments at FCPS.
K-12 Classes
FCPS ACE is returning to K-12 classes! Using a combination of virtual and in-person classes, your student can explore their interests. Students can learn new study skills to help close a learning gap, get needed practice in support of taking standardized tests, or explore a potential career.
Our collection of fun and educational elementary classes is designed to help parents expose their children to new academic or personal skills. Students will work with the same ACE Instructor throughout the class, and our ACE Instructors will get to know your child and understand how they best learn in a safe and welcoming environment.
Although the specific classes ACE offers will differ depending on the season, some of the types of classes typically offered include:
- Boot Camps on a variety of subjects
- Various STEM classes such as Computer Graphics, Keyboarding, and introductory Physics,
- Study skills and Leadership skills
Our collection of secondary enrichment classes (grades 7-9) is designed to help students expand their skills in a variety of subject areas. Students will work with the same ACE Instructor throughout the class, and our ACE Instructors will get to know your student throughout the class in a safe, fun, and engaging environment. In ACE classes your student will learn subjects and practice skills in:
- Boot Camps on a variety of subjects
- Age-appropriate Culinary classes
- Various STEM classes such as
- Computer Graphics and comic book creations
- Film making
- Keyboarding
- Algebra
- Introductory Physics
- Study skills and Leadership skills
- Classes for Young Writers
Our collection of secondary enrichment classes (grades 9-12) is designed to help students expand their skills in a variety of subject areas, explore options, and learn how to develop a resume and other life skills.
For our in-person classes, your student will work with the same ACE Instructor throughout the class, and our ACE Instructors will get to know your student throughout the class in a safe, fun, and engaging environment.
Our online classes are self-paced and can be accessed anytime once fully registered.
