Career Guidance
Career guidance is available upon request. Support may include:
- Educational information and referral.
- Course selection assistance.
- Payment plans.
- ACE scholarships; available to low-income adults living or working in Fairfax County who wish to enhance their job skills.
- Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) accommodations.
- Permission form used by parents of underaged students who want to take ACE classes.

Americans with Disabilities Act
For accommodations under the Americans with Disabilities Act, contact the Career and Outreach Specialist at least 15 business days in advance. Adult and Community Education will make every effort to provide reasonable accommodations; however, failure to request an accommodation in advance of the specified time frame may limit our ability to fulfill this request.
Requesting an Accommodation
Your request should identify any specific accommodation you are seeking, such as an auxiliary aid or service for effective communication or to participate in a class, service, or activity of ACE. Please submit your request as soon as possible but no later than fifteen (15) business days before the scheduled event or activity for which you require assistance. Please use this ACE Accommodation Request Form when submitting your request.
- Requests Related to an ACE class: If you are requesting an accommodation in connection with a specific class, then your request should be in writing, should reference the class, should be emailed to [email protected], and should comply with other applicable filing requirements, if any. Any such request should be made as far in advance of the requested implementation date as possible, and in any event should be made no less than fifteen (15) business days prior to the requested implementation date.
- Requests Not Related to an ACE class: If you have a disability and have trouble using ACE’s website or accessing any ACE services, programs, materials, or facilities, please advise us via U.S. Mail by submitting your written request to:

- Supporting information and documentation required: All requests for accommodation shall include a description of the specific accommodation sought. You may be asked to supply supporting documentation or records.
- ACE Facilities: ACE will, to the extent that they are aware of any building issues, take reasonable measures to facilitate the accessibility of programs and activities to eligible students.
- Confidentiality: All requests addressed to the ACE Career and Outreach Specialist will be treated as confidential to the extent permitted by law and will only be shared with other ACE staff as necessary to respond to the request.
FERPA
The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) requires adult students to sign a release before school records can be released to a third party. Examples of a third party could be:
- a caseworker
- an employer
- a parent or
- a spouse
If you wish to have ACE share your ACE grades or progress in an ACE class with a third party you will need to
- Complete and sign the ACE FERPA release form with the required information.
- Email the signed form to [email protected]
We will not be able to provide grades and attendance information to any third party for any adult student without this release on file in our offices.

ACE Scholarships
The ACE Foundation offers a limited number of scholarships each year for eligible classes in:
- Apprenticeship
- Health and Medical
- Business and Information Technology (IT)
Timeline
Scholarship applications for ACE classes starting in the spring of 2025 will be accepted for consideration from November 1, 2024 to December 31, 2024.
