Facilities Planning for the Future
Making sure that FCPS' facilities meet the needs of students and staff
The Facilities Planning Office ensures that all FCPS students can learn and grow in the best possible space.
Office staff members review information on population growth and residential construction. At the same time, the office reviews and updates the state of about 200 FCPS facilities. The office takes into consideration and creates reports on:
- student accommodation
- school enrollment projections by grade level
- attendance area adjustment recommendations
With this information, office staff members develop a five-year Capital Improvement Program (CIP). The CIP includes renovation suggestions to existing buildings and any new construction.

The Capital Improvement Program includes dollars for renovations, modular classrooms, additions to existing schools, and construction of new schools.Facilities Planning Advisory Council (FPAC)
A citizen group which provides suggestions and advice to the office for consideration.
