Most Fairfax County Public Schools students take the Naglieri Nonverbal Ability Test (NNAT) in grade 1 and take the Cognitive Abilities Test (CogAT) in grade 2 or grade 3. Some students take these tests in later grade levels. These abilities tests are used as part of the screening process for Advanced Academic Program (AAP) services. Test results are only one of many data points used to make AAP service decisions.
CogAT and NNAT results are usually available about 2 months after testing. The webpages linked below provide additional information on understanding abilities test results.
