Submit a request for information
The Virginia Freedom of Information Act (VFOIA), Code of Virginia § 2.2-3700 et seq., grants citizens of Virginia and members of the media the right to access public records maintained by FCPS. All public records, except those specifically exempted from disclosure by law, are available for inspection and copying upon request. Staff will inform you in writing if the records you have requested are exempt from disclosure.
FCPS will respond to your request within 5 working days of its receipt. Please be aware that FCPS may notify you that it requires an additional 7 working days to provide a complete response. A working day is a day in which FCPS offices are open. FCPS central office hours are 8 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Requests submitted after working hours or at times FCPS central offices are closed will be marked as received on the next FCPS working day.
FCPS may make reasonable charges for the actual costs to access, search for, duplicate and supply requested records.
