FCPS spends over $42 million per year on electricity, oil, gas and water. FCPS keeps these bills low through conservation. Energy conservation is the best way to reduce energy use. Lower energy use reduces emissions and costs.

Energy Education Team

The FCPS Energy Education Team includes everyone who uses FCPS sites. Energy Education Specialists are FCPS staff who focus efforts towards the following goals, and objectives.

The FCPS Energy Education Team will reduce energy use and cost. The program will also improve health and safety, the educational environment, and productivity.

Objectives:

1. Coordinate energy savings efforts and use best practices.
2. Use energy providers and rates that provide the best value.
3. Report on program efforts with various media and methods.
4. Prepare energy budget draft for leadership.
5. Oversee accurate energy billing and payment functions.
6. Recommend energy-efficient methods and materials.
7. Use accounting software to manage energy use and cost data.
8. Develop and maintain professional and industry contacts.
9. Seek program improvement through staff development.
10. Measure and recognize success.
11. Provide appropriate extracurricular instructional opportunities.
