Seasonal resources: Summer 2024

Financial Assistance for Utility Bills

  • EnergyShare
    This is a Dominion Energy crisis program that helps pay energy bills for any type of heating and cooling source (wood, oil, natural gas, propane, kerosene, electric) for those who qualify. Heating applications are accepted October 1 – May 31 and Cooling applications are accepted June 1 – September 30. 
  • HeatShare
    Financial assistance for Columbia Gas bills for Columbia Gas customers who have exhausted all other sources of energy assistance and still have trouble paying their utility bills.  Call (1-800-543-8911) to determine eligibility.

  • Senior Cool Care Program
    This program helps low-income older citizens keep cool by providing portable fans for eligible adults, age 60 and older. 703-324-7948 Program dates: 05/01/24-10/31/2024.

With so much to offer, this summer is sure to be your most memorable yet.

  • Have you heard about Virginia's new SUN Bucks program?
    Virginia's NEW SUN Bucks program help families with school-age children may be eligible for a one-time payment of $120 to buy groceries.
    Benefits are charged to:
    Your SNAP EBT card (if participating in SNAP).
    A preloaded Virginia SUN Bucks card (if you do not participate in SNAP).

    Get your children ready for the new school year! Take advantage of health screenings for hearing, vision and dental needs, and make sure your children are up to date with available immunizations.     Start the school year with confidence!  Join us for the Back-to-School Resource Fair, a one-stop shop for preparing your child for a successful year.     Blue Star Families & Fairfax County Public Schools at our Back-to-School Military Fair.
